Biophilic design is expected to take over in 2025. This home design style is all about bringing the outdoors inside and making the home feel more connected to nature. When Thumbtack experts asked interior designers what the top trend of the year would be, most said biophilia.

Experts predict that by 2025, more and more homeowners will rely on artificial intelligence to plan their home layout. In addition, smart features such as smart thermometers, smart lighting, and smart appliances are expected to become increasingly popular this year.
Popular pieces
Vintage and antique pieces have been popular for quite some time, and homeowners will continue to purchase used treasures in 2025. According to 43 percent of Thumbtack experts, vintage decor and furniture will be trendy this year.
Castlecore
Details and decorations inspired by the Middle Ages—think copper pots, heavy fabrics, and dark colors—will take over interior design in 2025.

Homeowners in 2025 are working with what they already have. According to Thumbtack, 57 percent of experts predict that people will prioritize remodeling over building and buying new this year.
Ultra-modern design
Ultra-modern design is going out of style as more and more people choose nature-inspired design. Ranjana Mangharam, tack expert and owner of Design by Ranj, predicts that minimalist Japandi styles and Scandinavian styles will become more prominent this year as earthy designs and natural color palettes become more popular.
Plastics and synthetic materials
Homeowners are becoming increasingly conscious of the materials they use in their homes. Instead of plastic and synthetic materials, they rely on natural, untreated wood.
Ceiling and artificial lighting
In 2025, Thumbtack experts expect homeowners to prioritize natural light over artificial lighting by adding larger windows and skylights to their rooms.
Overconsumption
