Employees of the defense logistics agency from four large subordinate commands shared ideas and functions for automation manual processes with software robotics during a multi-MSC robot-process automation collaboration workshops 22.
The Multi-MSC RPA collaboration workshop gave the participants the opportunity to discuss ideas and share existing automation functions, according to Nicole Byrd, a program analyst for DLA Enterprise Capabilities (J62B) RPA at DLA Information Operations and Workshop Facilitator.
Fifty-six employees from DLA aviation, energy, troop support as well as agile and maritime support for the business process and the support of procurement processes took part both practically and personally. The participants included a mixture of DLA -RPA analysts and dreams, data analysts, business process analysts, RPA teams from DLA Information Operations, Supply Chain analysts and other representatives.
According to Byrd, the RPA technology simulates repeated human actions according to certain workflow business processes. The measures processed by this technology are regularly based and do not require decision -making. RPA software -robot complete processes faster, work around the clock, create audit data records and significantly reduce errors. The program offers DLA an annual avoidance of around 40 million US dollars in manual working hours.
“The manual working hours avoided by the RPA program contribute to the manual hours for the work more complicated and decision tasks so that DLA's ability can fulfill the overall mission to support the war fighter,” said Byrd.
In 2018, DLA developed the first federal organization to develop unattended bots, performed the tasks and interact with systems without human participation.
Land and Maritime, the largest provider of spare parts of the military, supporting agricultural and seamarite weapons systems, uses RPA to publish reports on the discrepancy of information offers and to distribute the national identification numbers of special procurement authorities.
“We use RPAs to optimize and automate repeatable manual processes to make things more efficient,” said Han.
Land and maritime also plan to automate the inquiries from pension aid to people.
“With the inquiries from over 3000 offers available from DLA Land and Maritime Customer Company employees per month, each of which requires a manual measure to assign the request to a user to be processed” System analyst. “If you are able to use a digital worker to carry out these tasks, you save a considerable time that can be implemented for the values with value creation so that the customer-oriented staff can improve his thorough support in the work of inquiries .. ”
Dawn Wynn, head of the E -ProCurement department for the management process for DLA Energy, said her department had RPA BID board system. She said you will continue to explore other areas in which RPA functions can be used.
Wynn said she enjoyed the way the other MSCs used in procurement processes.
“The workshop was a great opportunity for my team to exchange ideas and work with important partners in other MSCs to gain knowledge of how their teams developed and implemented to alleviate problems that they have met with various procurement processes” , said Wynn. “I also appreciated the opportunities to expand the new ones in RPA to take part in future advanced training courses to build knowledge about RPA design techniques.”
Han said she found the workshop helpful for building relationships.
“The most advantageous thing I got out of the workshop is the cooperation with the other MSCs and able to build relationships with important players,” said Han.
