Ask Angi: What can I do with my garden this year?

If your garden has seen better days, it may be time to revise.

Give your garden a little urgently needed TLC this year. The landscape design is still one of the most popular home goods. According to the Angi State of Home expenditure report 2024, landscape design was the four most popular home project for 2024, and many homeowners say that this will remain priority this year.

Here are some of my favorite background projects and how to plan for large renovation work in the back yard.

Potted plants

A well -designed garden usually has shrubs and trees as basic elements, but with potted plants you can give your garden depth, color and versatility. Potted plants offer flexibility to experiment with different arrangements so that they can easily refresh the aesthetics of your garden. The popular selections for the fermentation of containers include commonia, asters and azaleas, all of which thrive in narrow rooms and at the same time give visual interest.

Edible gardens

A garden can serve both aesthetic and practical purposes by incorporating edible gardens into the design. The cultivation of fruit and vegetables not only guarantees fresh and superior taste, but also supports a sustainable lifestyle. If the space is limited, increased beds or garden work can deliver practical alternatives in containers and at the same time maintain high productivity.

Fireplace

Nothing says summer like a garden fire. Buy a fireplace in your local garden center or create your own fireplace with stone or bricks, which are surrounded by gravel or small stones, which improve both security and visual attraction. Take comfortable furniture, family and friends and get ready for the S'More season.

Wedwears and paths

Defined sidewalks not only lead the movement through your garden, but also improve the overall structure and the design. Materials such as gravel, step stones or repeated wooden pallets can be used to create ways that mix seamlessly into the aesthetics of your garden. To increase the appearance, line the paths with low -growing plants such as verbena, hostas or sequences.

Water features

Water features convey a feeling of calm and refinement for every garden. The fountain added the soothing sound of running water. Small ponds can serve as a striking contrast to the surrounding plants and give visual depths and interest. Bird baths can also serve as a center and offer protection for our friends in the sky.
