Exosomes for hair restoration
AnteAge MDX Exosome Solution (More Information)
For South Lake, Texas, dermatologist Janine Hopkins, MD, hair restoration was at the heart of one of the most compelling new launches of the year.
“I am very excited about the AnteAge MDX Exosome Solution, which is bioengineered to stimulate hair growth,” says Dr. Hopkins. “We use it in conjunction with microneedling or laser resurfacing. And they have three formulas, one for brightening, one for collagen stimulation and one for hair growth. They have bioengineered a way to activate hair growth, and they are using exosomes in really exciting ways.”

In the world of at-home hair loss solutions, options have arrived in the next century. These days, we have a plethora of options, from powerful topical formulations designed for specific types of hair loss to at-home microneedling serums to boost hair growth. And of course the red light therapy devices to stimulate hair growth.
Joining the hair restoration game this fall, FOREO Sweden's LUNA 4 Hair is a red LED light all-rounder for hair health. In clinical studies, 97 percent of users reported thicker, shinier hair. And LUNA 4 Hair is clinically proven to increase hair thickness and reduce hair loss. The T-Sonic massage stimulates blood circulation and the red LED light therapy protects and strengthens the hair. Overall, the waterproof LUNA reduces dandruff, unclogs pores and increases the absorption of hair serums.
The new gold standard for hair transplants
You've probably heard of “hair plugs” and may know what these plugs look like. Fortunately, those days are behind us.
“Hair transplantation has made great strides in the last few decades,” says New Jersey facial plastic surgeon Jeffrey B. Wise, MD. “Gone are the days when people received macrotransplants. What they would do is take several hairs at a time and arrange them on a person's head like a doll's hair, giving them a very artificial look.”
The most modern hair transplant surgery is now so precise and detailed that the results have a completely natural appearance.
“The old device that is still used in many facilities that perform hair transplant punches is 1 millimeter, 1.2 millimeters and up to 1.4 millimeters,” explains Dr. Wise. “Over time the stamp size has become significantly smaller. The device we use has a current punch size of 0.5 or 0.6 millimeters, which is almost the diameter of a needle. This means there are no scars on the back of the head. You’ll be able to wear your hair short and no one will ever know.”
