It is a simple, elegant, well -overlaid design that causes a feeling of calm and comfort from the bustle of the outside world. Fitzroy North House is a love work for interior designer Alessia Ferrarini and the partner Ben, who is tailored to the needs of her young, growing family. In addition, it celebrates the end of the first project in Alessias newly founded practice Alessia Ferrarini Design Studio.
The listed terrace with two bedrooms, which was bought in a decay at the end of 2020, was carefully restored and extended into a two -story house with three bedrooms. Both Alessia and Ben loved the situation and the cultural expert and kept him as a unique aspect in design. Perhaps the biggest challenge was to compensate for the heir aesthetics with a new contemporary addition and at the same time minimize the visual effects of expanding the first floor to the street landscape.
Cooperation with Cera Strible on the design achieved this and much more.
Alessias Italian heritage and qualification as an architect in Milan, combined with Ben's participation in real estate development, gave them a strong feeling of space, shapes and volumes. When they met with Cera Strible, they knew exactly what they wanted.
“I wanted something simple. As a designer, I often find the latest trends for interiors a little overwhelming. For my own house, I started designing the interior and the outside with the concept of simplicity. I didn't want to overrart anything, ”explains Alessia.
The long, narrow block made the optimized space an important priority as well as with high ceilings and skylights to create clean, breathable, light -flooded rooms and contribute to a feeling of well -being.
The rest of the house was then removed and restored the two bedrooms at the front and was then removed and replaced by a new extension, which contained a bathroom, a laundry, a living room and a kitchen on the ground floor. On the upper floor, a parent retreat includes a main bedroom, its own bathroom, a walk-in robe and a study as well as a terrace on the roof that takes a view of the region.
The material palette is seamless in the inner and external design: “I love natural materials, so my palette was really instinctive and of course; That led me to the decisions, ”says Alessia.
On the outside, the brick stone is the hero of the expansion and reflects Alessias Erbe:
“I have a real passion for bricks – it is probably due to my Italian heritage and the fundamental importance they have in Italian architecture, so it had a big impact on me,” notes Alessia.
On the facade of the new addition, cream -colored Petersen -d72 bricks are used, which are beautifully complemented the facade of the cultural heritage and at the same time express a more contemporary aesthetics.
While Alessia concentrated her time on the inside, Ben was commissioned to obtain the best solution that he is familiar with in his work control. The selection trip included a lot of time and research to find the right brick. After Ben had previously moved into solutions from Robertson's Building products, Ben joined the Petersen D72 brick and was, dressed by his raw and its imperfection, immediately knew that she hit the brand in terms of color and texture.
“And as soon as I saw the Petersen D72 brick, I found it perfect. It is a warm brick and also a bit rustic and earthy and very natural. It has the imperfect European feeling instead of just having a flat cream brisk without texture or character, ”says Ben.
Inside, simple minimalism makes Fitzroy North House an outstanding one.
Alessias interior design skills come into play and continue the natural, tactile palette with exceptional love for detail. Venetian plaster, natural stone, wood, exposed concrete and steel accents generate warm, quiet rooms that Alessa's Italian heritage show. No place is superior, on the contrary. It is simple and clean and able to develop with the changing phases of life of the family.
“The house feels simple and simple, young and comfortable. And it feels like it is as if it were growing with us, ”comments Alessia.
The neutrality of the architectural interior creates enough space for art, design pieces and handmade ceramics that Alessia has collected over the years to stand out.
“The whole idea was about coming home to a quiet ambience and having beautiful rooms in which we feel peaceful and relaxed. And that's also something that comes out of the palette – the walls are not white, which contributes to the feeling of calm. The surfaces, art, the furniture and the objects are all combined in a beautiful, balanced room, ”reflects Alessia.
It was exceptionally worthwhile to design and build a home for your young family, almost as if you were watching life, work and building collide with exceptional results. Cooperation with Cera Strible was seamless and delivered the warm, calm and comfortable home that intended.
As Ben says: “At the end of the day, it's about having a beautiful house that we have finished and get a lot of work under control and enjoy it together.” Alessia agrees and loves the quiet home that you have created, although the real cherry at the top is created by a beautiful shop window for potential customers and demonstrates the extraordinary, well -considered designs that Alessia Ferrarini Design Studio will deliver.
