Stellatis NV says that an internal automated driving system has developed that should help to make it easier in dense urban areas, whereby the drivers can distract their hands from the steering wheel and the eyes from the street.
In an announcement on Thursday, the manufacturer of JEEP and RAM vehicles announced that the new StLA Autodrive 1.0 technology can do the stop-and-go pendulum at lower speeds of up to 37 miles-and the speed, steering and braking take over.

Future updates of the platform, which is the automation of level 3 as automation of level 3, could unlock speeds of up to 59 miles per hour and off-road automation for certain models.
However, you will not yet find the technology in Stellanti's vehicles, and no decision about the start -Itiming was made. While the platform is ready to go, the market for autonomous driving on level 3 remains “very limited,” said Dan Reid, a Stellantis spokesman, in an e -mail.
Advanced vehicles usually offer level 2, including adaptive cruise control, lane center and self -parking. According to SAE International, the highest automation level is level 5, where a car can drive itself under all possible conditions.
“As soon as the market opens and becomes more receptive, we will present this advanced technology,” said Reid. The locations at which Stellantis will initially introduce Autrive were not announced, but Reid said that regions with “dense urban environments” would be prioritized to support daily commuters.
In a statement, Stellantis said that the technology would enable the driver to undress and carry out activities, including catching up e -mails, reading a book or reputation of a film. It can be activated with a physical button and uses a series of sensors that can clean themselves in bad weather.
At higher speeds, the car manufacturer said that Autrive can transform into adaptive temporary, including modes, in which the hands have to rest on the steering wheel or an intermediate option that enables hands to get off the bike, but the eyes on the street remain.
