Unifi benchmarks progress in recycling textile-textile

Greensboro, NC – Garn manufacturer Unifi occurs to his sustainability goals from 2030 and increases the circular textile production.

The manufacturer of recycled and synthetic yarns has published its 5 todayTH Annual sustainability snapshot, which highlights significant progress in recycling textile textile. The dynamics in the circular textile sector are stimulated by the starts of Repreve Takeback 2024, the world's largest portfolio of performance circular polyester, and thermalop, an award -winning circular thermal insulation product.

“We constantly cross borders in recycling, waste reduction and innovation to provide sustainable production on a scale,” said Eddie Ingle, CEO.

The 2024 sustainability -snapshot highlights from Unifi include ::

  • The value of 950 million T-shirts of textile and yarn waste recycles on the right track to achieve 1.5
  • Billions of T-shirts from the 2030 financial year
  • 42 billion plastic bottles are redirected by landfills and offspring over 50 billion bottles
  • December 2025
  • Zero non -compliant water discharges in local communities and per national regulation
  • 8% Reduction of scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (“THG”) emissions and occurs by 30% around the GJ 2030

Represented 32% of the sales for the 2024 financial year and the company is organizing 50%+ by the 2030 fiscal year. In addition, Unifi invested in two new life cycle ratings for the repreve decline in paper and thermalop. Compared to Virgin Polyester's production, the results show both products reduced:

  • THG emissions by 42%-77%
  • Energy consumption by 47%-84%
  • Consumption of fossil fuel by 48%-85%
  • Freshwater consumption by 46%-71%

The vertically integrated manufacturer has direct operations in the USA, Colombia, El Salvador and Brazil as well as sales offices around the world.
