It is not a small performance to find a Seehaus in North Jersey because there are only so many. But finding one that meticulously restored and comes with a private property on the lake is often even more difficult.
Do not search for: The house in the 27 Witte Road in Hewitt, which offers about 135 feet a remote property at the lake at the southern end of the Upper Greenwood Lake in the Passaic County – recently shortened for $ 729,000. It was performed by Werner Realty in West Milford by Mitchell Kass, who bought the property in January 2024 and refreshed for over a year.
“I saw the house a year and a half ago. It was urgently repaired. I drove in a snowstorm from Manhattan to see it and I knew I wanted to save it,” he said. “Ironically, every house I bought was number 27 or started with numbers 27, so this was also a good sign.”
Kass, originally built in 1935, said that the property was known in the community as a “gingerbread house”. This is because its appearance is reminiscent of the European gingerbread architecture style of architecture, which is defined by things like their steep roof lines, overhanging eaves and detailed sides.
This house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms has a spacious kitchen with new stainless steel devices, a living room or living room with a wood stove and a living room that leads to a balcony with a view of the hidden courtyard, the lake and the private dock of the property.
“The house was built on a boulder and has an unusually large property for the area, which gave it privacy,” said Kass. “And the deck outside the main living area is expansive and feels like a tree house with a view of the lake.”
During his restoration of the house, Kass said that he had concentrated on maintaining the unique details of the property and also improving them to more modern amenities. He said that this had installed the revival of all customer -specific wood processing of the house – including Wainscoting, molded parts and bars – but, for example, updated devices, new supply systems and a new room.
“I think it was always important to me to keep the character in the house,” he said. “I also bought furnishings from online real estate sales that were more stylish in the style of the Old World. Everything that would have emerged modernity like a painful thumb.”
In addition to the house, the 400 hectare of the Upper Greenwood Lake is a private community in which around 2,100 properties live. Among other things, the residents of the community have exclusive access to the private beach and the private beach and to the club house in the community as well as to the lake for boating and fishing.
A public open house for the house will take place on Sunday, March 16 from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
