After several days of strong winds and high ride -on fire in Arkansas, many homeowners have now been dealing with the consequences.
Little Rock, Ark. – Due to all the gusty winds that we dealt with this week in Arkansas, some called the professionals to help with roof repairs.
Both roof and insurance companies were busy while they reacted to these claims and services. Now share some tips for what you need to know if your home has been damaged.
“The wind has been quite busy. In the past seven days we have probably received about three or four or four views for people with trees who fall on their homes,” Malik Matthews, the owner of Elite Roofing and Reha.
He also explained how even those who have less extreme damage, such as missing shingles, should still describe a professional.
“As soon as you lack one of the components from an asphalt shingle roof, you will get water into your house at some point, and that will lead to more damage and more expensive repairs,” he added.
He encourages them not to wait, especially because we are now in the storm season.
“People will see these shingles, one or two missing, and they don't seem to worry too much. But if the water is in the house, they are of course worried. And then when a tree falls into the house, they are really worried,” said Matthews.
He also suggested that people cut questionable tree members before it is too late.
“Bladder shingles are one thing, but trees fall into their house, that's a completely different problem,” he said.
However, Matthews and his team are not the only ones who are busy calls for damage this week. McGhee Insurance's employees were also quite busy.
“We had a lot of demands, probably 30 or 40 with roof damage and quite a lot of tree damage, trees on houses, trees on cars,” said Hoover, the president and owner of McGhee Insurance.
Hoover said that something also took into account how the roof claims have changed since Tornado in March 2023.
“They used to have a standard self -retention. Let's just say 1,000 US dollars for all homeowners.
Although there are no great news for homeowners, Hoover said it was necessary.
“Home owners lost so much money in Arkansas that they had to increase the deductible and make the wind hail deductible to keep companies in the state to keep them from leaving,” he added. “If you have your next roof claim, you pay a lot more money.”
Before making this potentially frustrating call to your insurance company, remember to check your policy.
