Chula Vista starts 17.7 million USD Eucalyptus Park Renovation

Chula Vista starts a renovation of $ 17.7 million in Eucalyptus Park and adds new amenities and upgrades.

Chula Vista, California – The city of Chula Vista celebrated the start of a large renovation project in Eucalyptus Park, the first and oldest park in the city, with a public event earlier. The 20 hectare park in the 436 C Street was originally opened in 1927.

The renovation of USD 17.7 million will contain considerable upgrades for existing parks and the installation of new leisure facilities such as pickle balls, a bicycle park, a skate plaza and an interactive water feature. Local and state officials and members of the Chula Vista community took part in the public celebration.

The project is financed by a combination of sources, including a subsidy of $ 7.1 million from the program for country development and the revitalization of the community revitalization awarded in February 2022.

The renovation work also includes the addition of a multi -purpose field with lighting, new fitness equipment, an updated playground and a newly renovated dog park area. The park's hiking trail is improved and additional parking spaces are added near the softball field.

In 2022, the city of Ktua, a landscape architecture firm, hired the design and building management services for the project. A number of community workshops and respondents for public engagements helped the updated Eucalyptus Park master plan, which was presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission in April 2023 and approved by the city council in June 2023.

The renovation of Eucalyptus Park is part of Chula Vista's ongoing efforts to improve public spaces and to offer more leisure opportunities for the community.

The City Council of Chula Vista approved the restoration and voted for a note:

  • Tennis courts and lighting
  • Softball field and lighting
  • Basketball court
  • Picnic accommodation
  • Toilet and warehouse building
  • Garbage housing
  • Parking fences
