Grand Junction, Colorado (KJCT) – Last month, the Veterans Art Center celebrated the start of the construction work for a new roof. They were able to receive these roof repairs thanks to the generosity of honest Roofing LLC and the collection of donations from the community.

On Friday, April 11th, the Veterans Art Center again asked the community for help, this time about information about a person shown on the surveillance camera, the roofing material from thousands of dollars from its alley.

The material included half a range of shingle bundles and two oriented strand boards, both of which were used for the roof repair.

“As soon as I found out about it, we contacted the police and submitted a report, we sent all videos and everything, and then I thought I would put it on Facebook. I posted it on Friday afternoon, and on Saturday morning we called someone with a tip,” said Wendy Hoffman, President of the Veterans Art Center.

Hoffman said without this anonymous tip that they might never have got the materials back. “It was like an enormous support for the community, I was sitting like Wow. I really think it was the support of the community that helped us find it,” said Hoffman.

Hoffman said that the Facebook post had received over 100,000 views and over 700 shares.

The veteran art center still collects money to complete the repairs of roofs. Click here to donate.
