The Ministry of Plant Pathology, the South Asian Institute for Rural Affairs and Agricultural Management (Sairam), Langjing Achouba, Imphal, opened a two-day workshop on the subject of “exploration of sustainable plant health management: non-chemical strategies for diseases and best contele.”
The opening meeting was made by Dr. HS Shekhar Sharma, director of Sairam, Imphal, held; N. Arunkumar Singh, Faculty, Sairam; Oinam Priyokumar Singh, Secretary, Leading Board, TS Paul Manipur Women's College; and ksh. Devendra Singh, director of the Women's College by TS Paul Manipur.
The workshop aims to raise awareness and to understand non -chemical strategies for plant health management and to focus on sustainable alternatives to synthetic pesticides. In view of the growing concerns about the environmental and health effects of chemical use in agriculture, meetings on biological control, cultural practices, physical methods and biotechnological innovations were discussed. Experts from various areas informed their knowledge and research and equipped participants with practical, environmentally friendly techniques to support sustainable agriculture.
The workshop is from Dr. N. Olivia Devi, assistant professor, coordinated and witnessed the participation of 41 students of TS Paul Manipur Women's College and Sairam. The program will continue on April 28, 2025 with further technical meetings and interactive discussions.
