Council on Aging St. Lucie County helps local seniors to restore home

Port st. Lucie – A ceremony for cutting ribbons was carried out to celebrate the Council for the aging of St. Lucie's, Veteran and Seniors, Robert Sgarlato, who received Hurricane Milton Recovery Assistance for a house restoration project. Many seniors in St. Lucie County are still recovering to the hurricane Milton.

The restoration efforts have not yet been completed because seniors are still faced with challenges and needs. The Council on Aging of St. Lucie, Inc. (Coasl) has organized numerous Outreach events since the Hurricane hit in October 2024. The Arena Agency On Aging played an important role in securing crucial funds to satisfy the uncovered needs of the elderly.

In addition to the secured funds, local contractors have helped at home, including Larry Neese, LLC Daching & Construction, H&M Impocts Window and door and the glass guru, all of which have occurred to donate time, materials and workers to restore the house of a local veteran. Together we all work to improve the lives of our seniors and communities affected by the hurricane Milton.

Local delegates took part in the ceremony to the ribbon cutting agent. Angel Robertson, Outreach coordinator for the congress member Brian Mast, said: “Our veterans have priority in the country, especially those in our community. We should all be grateful for their service and sacrifices. I know that our congress members and employees are very grateful that the Council of St. Lucie Inc., the agent, the local company, which in the region, who have come.
