By Alan Lafave, President of VCSU
Greetings from VCSU!
When we complete a very successful spring semester, I would like to take a moment to share some updates to campus projects and priorities that we will address in the coming summer months.
We are pleased that the McCarthy Hall project is about to be completed. This renovated facility becomes a new home for our renowned school for education and technical training. The renovation work was extensive and include all new HLK systems, windows, tuck points, classrooms, conference rooms, laboratories and offices. A unique highlight of the renovation includes a spacious and inviting entrance foyer that is air -conditioned. This new room is a dramatic improvement in the former Breezeway, which served as a connection between McFarland and McCarthy Halls. We look forward to offering a modernized space for the provision of our first -class educational program to current and future students.
You will soon see extensive activities in the Lokken Stadium. The first project includes the full exchange of the field door in the stadium. While the lifespan of this lawn is usually 10 years, we have managed to use the same field in the past 12 years. The wear and tear shows itself and the security for our student athletes is significantly improved by the new play and exercise interface. It is planned that this replacement will take place after football camps in June.
The opening for the inner practice system on the south side of “The Bubble” will very soon take place with an expected groundbreaking ceremony in June. This amazing newcomer to campus is fully financed from private donations and will serve the entire sports department and the campus and have a significant impact on our community. Further details will follow soon!
Before this groundbreaking throwing cage for the athletics program are relocated. The other summer sports upgrades include reworking the Graichen Fitness studio, refreshing the visitor -covering room in Graichen and a new configuration of the seating in the bladder.
Further upgrades will be addressed this summer in McFarland Hall (painting), which all memorial library (2nd Stock Lounge), the student center (new ceiling tiles and the lights), the McCarthy Hall (new elevator) and the campus -wide parking lot. The dormitories are also improved with a window from the 2nd floor in McCoy Hall and maintenance work in every home.
I would like to end today's column with sincere thanks to all of our faculties, employees and students for an enormous year full of record records, services of the students and the faculty, a continuing reputation of excellence and high -quality experiences in and outside the classroom.
We wish all of our graduates a successful journey while entering the workforce or continuing their training with professional or specialized training. I would also like to send special congratulations to the VCSU trap team that recently won a state title in the team department -and our Spring Sports athletes for their recent success in state competitions and conference awards.
Go Viking!
