The residents of the Free School District of the Seaford Union voted for the approval of the budget of $ 85.1 million for the school year 2025-26 during the annual vote on Tuesday.
The expenditure plan, which gave up from 770 to 319, corresponds to an increase of 1.93 percent compared to the current budget. The accompanying tax increase of 2.49 percent remains below the state upper limit of the district.
The budget includes several capital improvements, e.g. B. Renovation work on the playground of the Seaford Manor Elementary School, upgrades for the classroom and the library of career development/life skills and the library of the Seaford Middle School as well as improvements in the high school cafeteria and Woodshop.
“It offers our students enormous institutions,” said Adele Pecora, a superintendent of the district, “as well as academic programs while remaining under the tax tax.”
The voters also approved two additional proposals that approved the use of reserve funds for infrastructure, security and security projects without additional costs for taxpayers. Proposition 2 enables the use of up to $ 1 million from the Capital Reserve Fund 2018 for surveillance camera upgrades, door Ajar alarm systems and elevator renovation work. The expenditure plan also includes the first year of a new five-year transport contract, which is estimated at $ 3.6 million for 2025-26.
The incumbents Lisa Herbert and Heather Umhalfer were re -elected in the Board of Education in undisputed races. Herbert continues in her role as Board President, while Umhehfer will serve a further term as a trustee.
