The Los Alamos Historical Society (LAHS) announces the introduction of an important fundraising partnership with Enterprise Bank & Trust to support the Historic Oppenheim House Restoration Project. This autumn, the campaign will support the final development, renovation and integration of the historical house of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientific director of the Manhattan project, in the campus of the Los Alamos History Museum.
The Oppenheimer House is located in the heart of the historic Los Alamos and is a landmark of international importance and stands for a crucial moment in world history.
The Fundraising campaign supports both the physical restoration of the real estate interpretation and the interpretation of the museum, including the creation of convincing exhibits and programs to combine visitors with the stories of the people who lived and worked at the location. As the main partner, Enterprise will take over up to 500,000 US dollars by contributing up to $ 125,000 per year for four years.
While the campaign officially begins in autumn, the games for contributions are valid in the course of 2025. The first suitable gift will be presented in January 2026.
“This partnership with Enterprise Bank & Trust is an important milestone for our efforts to maintain and interpret the Oppenheimer house,” said Todd Nickols, Executive Director of Lahs. “Due to the generosity of companies and supporters, the society of this historical home will be able to transform into a mighty and urgent education experience for visitors from all over the world.”
The Los Alamos Historical Society has been working on stabilization and maintenance work at the location since 2020, and phase 1 of the estimated renovation of 5 million US dollars will take place this summer. The planning of phase two is also in progress.
In addition to the current needs, Lahs also plans an educational fund of $ 1 million in order to support the ongoing maintenance requirement.
“We are proud to be a long -time partner of Lahs and have the opportunity to support this project financially, which will show our local community and our visitors the important landmark in the coming years,” said Liddie Martinez, President of Community Bank at Enterprise. “The suitable contributions from Enterprise are proof of the importance of this restoration and our steadfast commitment for investments in initiatives that have a direct impact on the local communities that our bank serves.”
