This season: For Poulin, Poulin started bad in 2024-25 when he was dispensed with on October 4th. The next day he was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Poulin shook off all of the doldrums that he may have experienced when he runs through with declarations of waiver and started a quick start with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He opened the season on the right wing of the top line and had points in five of his first six games (two goals, five templates).

This opening thrust led to a recall to the NHL squad of November 11th. Poulin appeared primarily on the right side of the third line in six games and recorded an assist on November 25 before being returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Apart from an absence of four games due to an unknown injury at the end of December, Poulin was a steady presence in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's line-up for the rest of the season. Poulin started almost the same number of games on the left wing (29) like the right wing (28) and set career -highs in all basic offensive categories.
The highlight of his season came during an 8: 3 home victory against the Belleville senators when he recorded a natural hat trick and two templates.

After Poulin was again called back in the regular season finale of the NHL club, he returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and drove in the two post-season games of this club, which included a template.
The future: Only in view of the nature of a draft of the first round, Poulin will always bring a certain number of expectations to him. And it is fair to say that he did not meet these hopes almost six years after his draft, even if he took into account the longer leave of absence he took into account in 2022-23 to solve his mental health.
However, this does not mean that the possibility of being part of the reconstruction penguins has evaporated for Poulin.
He has a career year at the AHL level and the NHL club clearly turns to younger options in the entire line-up, especially in the lower storms, in which Poulin's mixture of skills, versatility and size of the heaviest players in the organization is suitable for duties in the third or fourth line.
The opportunity to be part of the future still exists for Poulin.
