Black Enterprise reported that the Brazilian builders Edna and Maria Gabrielly Dantas converted 8,000 thrown away bottles from the IMARACá beaches into a fully lively home.
The mother-daughter duo was discouraged by the rubble tourists left in their coastal community. The visitors were littered with thousands of bottles in protected environmental zones every season.
Edna, who works as a socio-ecological educator, and her daughter Maria Gabrielly, who designs sustainable fashion, married her passions to transform this waste crisis into an innovative building option.
The construction of the house lasted several years. In addition to bottles, the mother-daughter couple has installed recycled wood, empty toothpaste containers and shipping pallets into the house.
Ednas Education has shaped its imaginative approach. She taught her to grow up in Brazil's affected aggregation to reuse simple materials.
“My childhood was characterized by creativity. I made my own bamboo toy and recycled everything I could. We didn't know that it was environmental activism, as we survived,” said Edna.
The resulting house, which is called Salt House, shows the innovative, inexpensive tree methods that EDNA has learned in childhood: use of thrown materials for reducing construction costs compared to conventional deliveries.
The glass bottle walls of the Salthaus that are isolating the house are both creative and practical. This natural temperature regulation dispenses with excessive energy consumption that heating or cooling systems require.
Unfortunately, the construction process was not free from difficulties. Both mother and daughter were discriminated against in the construction industry dominated by men.
“We only wanted to hire work for certain tasks, but [contractors] I always wanted to give opinions, correct us, tell us how to do things as if we had no ability, “said Maria.” People think that one day we found a magical bottle with a genius inside.
