MP Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District), Chairman of the Negros Island region in Visayas Caucus on Sunday, August 10, said that the House of Representatives deals with special concerns.

The spokesman for the House, Martin Romualdez, called the Visayas Caucus together on August 6th to give the Negros Island region together with West, Central and Ostvisayas, a stronger voice in the congress.

During the meeting, Ferrer was appointed regional chairman of the NIR, while Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (neg. Occ., 6th district) was appointed deputy chairman.

Ferrer said the Caucus was called for a stronger Visayas.

He and Alvarez were commissioned to ensure that Nir's special concerns are heard and kept in the congress, said Ferrer.

The Caucus was used by representatives of all four Visayas regions of the Batasang Pambansa and was set up as a focused, non-participating platform for regional interest groups, said Romualdez.

“Each of us has the hopes of our Kababayaner at home. The Visayas Caucus is our way of ensuring that his voices in the halls of the congress should be heard and felt,” he said.*
