GULFPORT, Fla. – More relief is coming for Pinellas County homeowners who are facing financial hurdles repairing their homes after back-to-back devastating hurricanes.

Pinellas County has launched the application portal for a new Hurricane Home Repair Program that can provide up to $30,000 to qualified homeowners to cover the cost difference between repairs and what they did or did not receive from their insurance policy or FEMA assistance. to balance.
The program is available to households in Pinellas County (excluding St. Petersburg, Largo and Clearwater, which have funding for their own programs) that earn less than 120% of the area median income: $80,280 for an individual or $114,600 for a family of four.
The money can be used to pay deductibles or approved repair work to repair or replace roofs, windows, HVAC and electrical systems, drywall, flooring, tree removal and more.
All construction work must be approved and completed by licensed, insured contractors.
The home must be a primary residence and its assessed value must be less than $375,000. Mobile homes that were built less than 30 years ago are also eligible.
The following documents are required for the application:
- FEMA award letter
- Homeowner's insurance information/reimbursement letter
- Income documents
- Bank statements
- Photo ID for adults
- Birth certificates for minors
- Social security cards for all household members
Applications will be prioritized based on need and income level. Households with special needs will be first on the list.
To be considered, those who apply must have both homeowners insurance information and a FEMA award/denial letter. If you have not yet applied for FEMA Individual Assistance, the deadline to do so is January 7th.
