WNC approved for over 124 million US dollars of federal recovery financing for Helene

Western North Carolina was approved for damage almost a year ago for more than $ 124 million in recreational financing.

Secretary Kristi Noem announced at the beginning of this week that the state would receive 28 million dollars of federal financing. This financing helps cover objects such as street repairs, critical infrastructure recovery, removal of ruins and other emergency measures that were taken after the storm to protect life and property.

The Fema reimburses the costs by its public auxiliary program, which finances the reaction and recovery work of the state and local governments.

Noem announced on August 21 that the state would receive 96 million US dollars of recovery financing.

Government officials said that more than 655 million dollars have so far been made available to the state for the repair of streets, the removal of ruins, a critical infrastructure repair and much more. Since January 20, more than 350 million dollars of public support for supporting the restoration efforts in North Carolina have been approved.
