Salt Lake City – Almost a month after fires were closed by four of the most popular bars and restaurants by Salt Lake, the donation collected 494,000 US dollars for the 160 employees who lost their work in the Main Street Fire Assistance.
The last checks went out on Thursday, with each dollar going directly to the employees.
“It was very helpful for her,” said Kait Paulraj, co -owner of London Belle. “Since many of them use it to pay for rent, eat [and] Petrol to get jobs and get interviews. “
More than 1600 people contributed to the fund.
“We were surprised at the speed, but not the generosity,” said Dee Brewer, Executive Director of the city center of Alliance.
According to Brewer, the first checks were distributed on August 19 just eight days after the fire.
“It was really encouraging to see the community that appeared, or the community that they made available for each other,” said Brewer. “For many of them, they saw themselves for the first time since they worked together the previous week.”
The amount of love is only very overwhelming and very appreciated in this crazy, challenging time, ”said Kait Paulraj.
Although their employees receive support, the owners said that the future of London Belle was still unknown. They are waiting for the insurance company to find out whether it can be rebuilt.
“It's BA little tries to try to wait for us just because there is no finite timeline, ”said Frank Paulraj, co -owner of London Belle.
He said her provisional meeting with the insurance company was set for September 24th.
“If you are responsible for 35 to 40 employees, it makes it a little more compulsive and a little more urgent, but we believe,” said Frank Paulraj.
They hope to return more and return the city that is gathered behind them.
“We look forward to passing it on to return something to the community and returning to what we can best do – serving drinks and offering great food,” said Paulraj.
The path is long, but you have no support.
“Your needs are big, but at the moment they are only trying to clean up and start the reconstruction process, and we want to support them in this very difficult effort,” said Brewer.
