Not all home apps are the same. Your app experience can create or break the Smart Home devices you have selected, e.g. B. surveillance cameras or intelligent light bulbs. The worst apps have confusing menus, missing settings and are even overcrowded with ads. The best apps are clean, fast and can help you to control your home technology with just a few punches.
It is not always easy to know whether a home app is user-friendly or painful until you use it. Here I come into play: I tested dozens of Smart -Home apps during my reviews of all big brands. These are my top picks that I really enjoyed and why.
Blink app (surveillance cameras)
Blink app and outdoor cam home scen.
Blink offers devices such as the Blink Outdoor 4 cam and the Blink Mini 2, compact and usually affordable surveillance cameras that are great for general purposes and for the first time. One of the best things when you get a flashing camera is how the app is understanding and use.
From setup to an informal view of a live view, Blink's app is one of the best I have encountered. It is fast, has settings that are easy to find and the disorder holds to a minimum.
Arlo app (surveillance cameras and home security systems)
Arlos Heim -App shows Widge options.
Arlo's security app is certainly more complex than that of Blink, but you can manage an Arlo monitoring camera and an Arlo Home security system by you so that you have to have many functions. I found that Arlo has one of the best setup walkthroughs for Home Security devices, a good start for newcomers that offers useful information in easy-to-understand packages.
The Arlo interface is also clean and rather intuitive as soon as they are furnished. It enables more adjustments than almost every home app that I have found so that you can place a variety of widgets on the start screen so that you can quickly see or control what is important to you.
Emporia Energy app (Smart Plug and Energy Management)
Emporia App Energy Use Graph Example of Brunnen.
The Emporia app offers a lot of data, from power supply graphs for your smart plug to incoming settings for electricity plans, top use settings and integration into its energy monitors. Therefore, it is impressive that Emporia the app is as neatly and user-friendly as it keeps, especially in view of the fast setup that can use its existing Google or Apple accounts.
Nothing is always more than a few knocks away, and Emporia's menuat management makes it easy to understand where things are and what functions will do. I have rarely seen how a mobile app makes things so clear.
Switchbot app (lock, sensors, door bells, etc.)
Switchbots no-nonsense app is filled with useful information.
Switchbot offers a variety of products that I have tested, including leak detectors, air quality sensors, intelligent castles and others. His app has always been pleasant to use, a minimalist experience with an excellent overview of the start screen, which collects devices and general home formations and it feels more like a real home centers than most apps.
The Switchbot automation menu follows an approach that I guess who lists a dozen possible home routines and leads them through the setup. It is a more comprehensive automation option than the suggestions that some apps have that contains clear explanations of why you may want a certain routine.
Apple Home App (Broad Platform Device Management)
Apple's app looks good and feels good, but you need compatible devices for it.
With apps such as Apple Home or Google Home you can combine a series of smart home devices under one roof -which means that it has to be a good roof. One of my favorites for simple simplicity is the Apple Home app. The start screen is simple and very clean, a nice choice for those who feel uncomfortable when there are too many buttons. The separation between categories and rooms that grow when the devices are added is an intuitive opportunity to organize your technology.
Of course, not everything works with Apple Home and not every device has all functions via Apple Home. Therefore, there are some concessions for this simplified approach. However, the Apple version remains my favorite and Excels at Extra Speedy device management of the most important apps of the home home platform such as Google Home or Alexa.
