Arrels, a new restaurant by chef Pepe Moncayo, debuted at the Arlo Hotel in Washington, DC.
The concept designed by the local company // 3877 and pays homage to the Catalan roots of Moncayo via a modern Spanish tapas menu and interior, which combine traditional materials with contemporary forms.
A new culinary addition to the Arlo Hotel
Housed in a newly built part of the historically renovated hotel, Arrels are tactile natural materials – terracotta tiles, structured plaster, brickweed and rich wood tones – with slim metals, sculptural lighting and contemporary art installations. In the meantime, leaves and traditional Spanish motifs alleviate the edges.
Spanish inspiration at Arrels
A feeling of the culinary theater begins before guests enter. Large kitchen chief's large street framework views, while the visual lines extend directly from the entrance to the open kitchen, where the focus is on the preparation of the charcoal. The cooking switch also offers the campaign in the front row.
A curved brick archway leads to an intimate diningo with layered textures and warm tones. Furthermore, a lounge-style bar area combines relaxed seating with Spanish pots, planters and a striking light installation and an adjacent courtyard covered with an operational glass structure between interior and external cleansing.
The additional offers include a road terrace and a private dining room for up to 20 guests.
