The administration of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has launched a courageous reform of Jimeta's ultra-modern market and after years of intervention, illegal structures and distortions restored it to its original design and plan. With regard to the development, the honorary commissioner for trade, trade and industry, Ishaya John Dabari, announced that the ministry had worked closely with the city planning department in order to carry out the recovery exercise.
According to him, one of the identified main problems was the blockade of most of the entry and exit points of the market, with only two goals being used. “No dealer with a legally acquired shop was affected by the continued demolition,” emphasized the Commissioner. “We held several sessions and consultations with the dealers before exercising. They were properly informed, with a reasonable announcement and well -known advertising.”
The restructuring, he noted, not only aimed to restore reason, but also to improve the security, accessibility and general commercial attraction of the market.
In a related development, Governor Fintiri has announced plans for the construction of a new building materials market in the state of Adamawa. The project, in which over 2,000 modern shops have, is expected to offer retailers an organized and safer environment, which promotes commercial growth and generates employment opportunities across the state.
Observers say that the twin initiatives, the restoration of the ultra-modern market of Jimeta and the planned construction of the building materials market reflect the government's commitment to renewing the infrastructure, urban planning and economic strengthening in the state of Adamawa.
