Xenia, Ohio (WKEF) – everyone earns a second chance, and the emerge center helps people in recovery to get one. On Monday, the center announced that Jobsohio received a scholarship to help with some urgently needed renovation work so that the center of the community can serve better.
Since 2021, the Emerge Center has been located in Xenia Recovery Services, Transitional Housing and Trade School Training under one roof in the Old Green County Career Center building.
It enables people to receive the help they need and at the same time create a sustainable path for the success they achieve, and at the same time contribute and at the same time contribute a gap in the workforce in industries such as sanitary and HLK.
“The business is now really suffering from finding people who are clever or willing to be trained in their fields,” said Rachel Huffman, CEO of Emerge Recovery & Trade Initiative.
Emerge Recovery & Trade Initiative is the largest tenant in the center. The campus also houses several companies that work in different trading sectors. The idea is to offer people who recover from drug abuse, access to housing services, support services, vocational training and possibly jobs.
In order for all positive work to be done, the building must be functional where job sohio comes into play.
The Emerge Center received a subsidy of 750,000 US dollars through Jobsohio's lively communities program to pay a new roof and HLK repairs.
The total cost of the project is 4.8 million US dollars.
Terry Slaybaugh, the Vice President of locations and infrastructure for Jobsohio, said these grants should help with smaller development projects, but this is something special.
“It is not often that we are involved in such a project in which they literally change the lives of people through the work they do,” said Slaybaugh. “It is very popular with what we think about at Jobsohio, to create high -quality jobs for Ohioaner so that all Ohioans can have life that I think all Americans want.”
Huffman said that these repairs were essential so that the Emerge Center continues to grow.
“It is a great help to ensure that we have the right conditions here,” said Huffman.
The Emerge Center served 112 students and a final rate of 84%.
