Missouri City approves an additional $636,000 for improvements to La Quinta Golf Course

Additional funding will support more than $15 million in improvements to the Quail Valley Golf Club in Missouri City, which operates the La Quinta and El Dorado golf courses.

What happens?

At a Nov. 17 meeting, the Missouri City Council unanimously approved a new contract and modification order with Greenscapes Six LLC totaling $636,446 for additional improvements to the La Quinta Golf Course.

The new contract and modifications build on a $5.63 million contract approved in December 2024 to improve the course's amenities, improve infrastructure, preserve city property and address drainage needs. Impact on the community reported.

The details

A new $351,398 contract will fund restroom improvements, including building new restrooms on the seventh and 12th holes, renovating restrooms on the third hole and demolishing existing restrooms, according to agenda documents. Hotel occupancy funds will support $223,300 of the renovations.

Meanwhile, a $285,047 change order will fund several items including:

  • Installed 50 additional sprinkler heads for holes 7, 12 and 14
  • Adding cart path curbs at 5, 7, 11 and 12
  • Increased wetting of fairways 15, 16, 17 and 18
  • Increasing branch rates for 15, 16, 17 and 18
  • Improving drainage by 11

In addition to the improvements to the La Quinta course, the golf club will also undergo changes including:

  • $1.01 million for 7-foot concrete walkways and demolition of the Halfway House – a building where golfers can take a break in the middle of the golf course
  • $2.62 million for a new golf maintenance facilitywhich will house administrative offices and fuel tanks
  • $6 million for downtown renovation, including renovation of the kitchen and dining room and additional seating in the event space

What's next?

Upcoming golf course project milestones include:

  • December or January 2026: The golf course will be open to the public once the turf has grown in
  • March 2026: The renovation of the main bar and restaurant has been completed
  • Q1 2026: Golf maintenance facility completed
  • Spring 2026: The city center is fully open and operational

A timeline for the additional improvements was not available before press time.
