As December begins, Christmas lights shine across Massachusetts to welcome the holidays and bring joy and brightness to the dark, cold days of winter.
Luckily, if you're a fan of Christmas lights, you don't have to go far to see them. Massachusetts has plenty of professional holiday light displays to delight you this season, including everything from an outdoor light show at a 50-acre zoo to a magical drive-thru experience at the Patriots' home stadium.
Here are 10 of the best Christmas light displays to see in Massachusetts this holiday season.
Edaville's Festival of Lights
During the winter months, the Edaville Family Theme Park transforms into a winter wonderland with a cranberry and train theme.
One of New England's oldest Christmas traditions, the Festival of Lights not only features an incredible light show, but also a Christmas market with local crafts and food vendors, steam train rides, ice skating, horse-drawn carriage rides, live entertainment and pictures with Santa.
General admission is $27.79, while combo tickets for access to the Festival of Lights and Holiday Express Train rides are available for $48.49. Online tickets are strongly recommended.
When: 4-9 p.m. Friday, 2-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-6 p.m. Sunday from November 28th to December 28th

Winter Lights of the Trustees
The Trustees of Reservations, an organization dedicated to protecting Massachusetts places of exceptional scenic and historic value, will host its Winter Lights show at two of its garden properties: Naumkeag in Stockbridge and the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate in Canton.
Festive music and seasonal treats accompany dazzling outdoor light displays through the snowy New England foliage.
Adult tickets are $25 on weekdays and $30 on weekends. There are discounts for members. Children's tickets are $12 and all children under 13 are admitted free from December 29th to January 3rd.
When: 4:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday from November 28, 2025 to January 3, 2026

ZooLights at Stone Zoo
At Stoneham Zoo, you can stroll through Yukon Creek's 26 acres of magical light and lantern exhibits while spotting creatures like black bears, arctic foxes, bald eagles and even reindeer.
In addition to the light show, Stoneham Zoo also offers special holiday events including visits with Santa, performances by the Boston Children's Chorus Group and sugar cookie decorating.
Admission is $17.95 for non-members and children 2 and under are free.
When: 4-9:30 p.m. from November 14, 2025 to January 4, 2026, except November 19, November 27 and December 25. Sensory inclusive night on January 4th, 2026.

Gardens shine
Heritage Museums & Gardens, the largest public garden in southern New England, brings a beautiful outdoor light display to Cape Cod every holiday season.
In addition to illuminated garden areas such as the hydrangea gardens and the labyrinth, the exhibitions also include the American Art & Carousel Gallery and the JK Lilly III Automobile Gallery, where Santa Claus sits among vintage cars. Other festive attractions include marshmallow roasting, a reindeer scavenger hunt, numerous photo ops, a gift shop and discounts at Cape Cod Donuts and Lilly's Café.
Online ticket prices are $28 for adults or $18 for children ages 3 to 17, with reduced rates for members. All ticket prices will be doubled at the box office. It is strongly recommended to purchase online tickets in advance as ticket sales on site are not guaranteed.

Night lights at the New England Botanic Garden
Another garden light show, Night Lights at New England Botanic Garden, immerses guests in a quarter of a million lights that glow in all colors. Seasonal sweets and drinks will be available for purchase and plenty of photo ops and holiday shopping will be available.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors or $15 for children. There is an additional charge of $2 per ticket for peak evenings. Discounted tickets are available for members.
When: 4-10 p.m. daily from November 22, 2025 to January 4, 2026, except November 27, 24-25. December, December 31st and January 1st. Sensory experience from 4-7pm on December 4th and December 10th.

La Salette Festival of Lights
The La Salette Festival of Lights is back this year with 137 new exhibitions and the theme “Rejoice in Hope”. Over a million lights span the Catholic shrine's 10 acres, stretching across trees, buildings and pathways to create a dazzling circuit.
Admission to this Christmas is free, but donations are welcome throughout the sanctuary.
When: Daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. from November 22, 2025 to January 4, 2026

Downtown Boston
Downtown Boston has many places full of beautiful lights within walking distance of each other.
To see the city's best winter lights, stroll through the illuminated evergreen trees that line the path of the Public Garden, stop at the Christmas trees in Boston Common or Faneuil Hall, and finish with a stroll under the trellis in Christopher Columbus Park.
When: The city's illuminations will take place on various dates: November 22nd at Faneuil Hall, November 24th at Christopher Columbus Park and December 4th at the Boston Common and Public Garden.

Magic of Lights at Patriot Place
If you want to stay in your car, you can drive to Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, to see the “Magic of Lights” drive-in show. The route of this light show passes through Patriot Place, an open-air shopping center adjacent to the stadium.
With over two million twinkling lights, dozens of displays and creative digital animations, this year's light show will be the brightest and longest Foxborough has ever seen. In addition to riding through the signature 200-foot-long enchanting tunnel of lights, participants drive past designs such as Christmas Barbie, Reindeer Road and the Bigfoot Monster Truck.
Admission is $35 per car on weekends, and tickets are currently available Sunday through Thursday for $20 per car.

Bright nights in Forest Park
Western Massachusetts residents can also experience a drive-through light show at Bright Nights at Forest Park in Springfield. The 31-year tradition includes a three-mile route filled with iconic holiday characters, festive scenes and illuminated gardens totaling over 750,000 lights.
Visitors can also exit the car for other holiday activities at Santa's Enchanted Forest, including visits with Santa, face painting, food vendors, musical performances and a holiday gift shop. Board the Bright Nights Carriage in front of the gift shop and take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the holiday village.
General car admission is $25 plus a $2 ticket fee. Special offers include opening night for $6 per car on November 26th and Tuesday admission for $12 on December 9th or 16th. Tickets must be purchased online or at The Big Y.

Taunton Lights On Festival
Taunton, nicknamed “Christmas Town,” has hosted the Lights on Festival for over 100 years. When the lights come on, Taunton Green and the surrounding area transform into a winter wonderland with a Christmas tree, festive photo ops and walk-through light displays.
Beyond the lights, the Taunton Christmas Festival features live carols, visits with Santa and food trucks. Admission to the Light Festival is free, but buttons are required to access certain activities for those ages 12 and older. Buttons will be available for purchase at various locations around the city before and during the event for $5.
When: Saturday, December 6th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you can't provide lighting, don't worry – the city lights stay on all month long.
