Samsung Electronics announced its latest innovation in smart home technology, the “AI Home” product line, debuting at CES 2025. The new line emphasizes seamless integration of home appliances through advanced AI and connectivity features, managed primarily through the SmartThings platform. The “AI Home” concept allows users to control all connected home appliances through one interface on devices like the Bespoke AI Combo Fridge.
By touching the screen, users can raise the curtains in the living room, turn the lights on and off, check the daily schedule and stream YouTube videos. SmartThings forms the backbone of this connectivity, enabling the integration and management of various devices, including smartphones, tablets, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, lighting, security cameras and sensors. Samsung Electronics announced that the number of domestic users of SmartThings has exceeded 20 million, with the significant growth attributed to recent upgrades to AI capabilities.
SmartThings users often use the platform to remotely diagnose and manage devices, monitor power consumption to save energy, and ensure pet safety through remote control capabilities. Over 1,000 users have connected more than 100 products within the SmartThings ecosystem.
Samsung's AI Home at CES
Key features of the AI Home range include appliances with touchscreens, such as the 9-inch Bespoke touchscreen fridge and a similar 7-inch washer and dryer fridge. These screens allow users to interact with the devices, control other connected devices, and use Bixby, the AI voice assistant, for a hands-free experience. Users can access internet apps such as weather updates, YouTube and Spotify directly from these screens.
Samsung's vision for the future includes more than just connected devices; The goal is complete home automation. The smart refrigerators, especially those equipped with family hubs and large touchscreens, serve as central hubs to control all smart home devices, including door locks, curtains and lighting.
