Cala Homes will work with BPA to provide 80 affordable houses on the outskirts of Cambridge.
The affordable houses are part of a 200-house development and include a mixture of 30 social rent, 30 affordable rent and 20 for common property, near the Addenbrookes Hospital in the southeast of the city. The houses offer apartments with a bedroom to houses with four bedrooms that benefit from excellent transport bonds in central cambridge.
All houses are built using a thermally efficient wooden frame construction and include further energy -efficient measures such as air compensation heat pumps and EV charging processes.
Jeff Astle, the development director of BPA, said: “Cambridge has significantly higher real estate values than the average, and many locals have the price for rent or buy from the price of a house. We look forward to developing important new houses in partnership with Cala, which are affordable for the rent and support first -time buyers through common property. These houses are part of our continuous commitment to offer really affordable houses in Cambridge and in the area of BPA. “

Cambridge is one of the fastest growing and most sought -after locations in the country. It is important that properties are available over a number of terms. These new houses are built for a 4-star rating of the house quality, ie they are designed and built in this way in order to have a lower influence on the environment. The houses will help combat the crisis to afford the living space in Cambridge by delivering more houses, including 80 affordable houses, to support people with the aim of finally having their own home. “
The work has already been worked, with the new houses being delivered in the next two years. The first completion is expected in October this year, with all houses being completed by the beginning of 2027.
