BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In 2016, Linda Martin paid Erie Construction Midwest of Rochester $40,000 to install a new roof on her Buffalo home.
“I was very happy with the work,” said Martin.
Martin said she has a 25-year warranty on the roof. When the 2022 Buffalo snowstorm damaged Martin's roof, she called the company. Months later they replaced the roof for free.
“Shortly after the storm, a week and a half later, we saw leaks in the upstairs bedroom that extended into the bathroom,” Martin explained. “Then I noticed a leak downstairs in the living room.”
Martin contacted the company about the ceilings, but said no one from the company had come to inspect the damage until 2024. Martin said she spoke with Erie Construction employees who told her to get four estimates from contractors who could repair the ceilings.
Martin obtained three estimates and then asked the company to help. She said nothing happened after that.
“I literally call [Erie Construction] at least twice a month,” Martin said.
Martin contacted 7 problem solvers for help.
“I contacted Channel 7 because it's been over two years and this is a beautiful home,” Martin said. “I want it the way it was.”
I called the company.
Martin said a contractor was sent out just before Christmas, but she hasn't heard anything since.
I then called a company employee who was at Martin's house last year. He said they investigated it. Later that day, an employee told me that around the time he called, someone from the company had scheduled an inspection for Monday.
Martin called me on Thursday evening and said she had been contacted by the company and that someone would be coming on Monday to take care of the damage. Additionally, the company will pay Martin $6,000 for the effort. The company sent me a statement saying:
