The WESCOTT between the Blue Ridge Mountains and Atlanta, Georgia, outputs the life of luxury with a locally inspired appearance for active adult residents.
Designed by Foley Design and Associates and manages Meridian Group, the active adult community of 120 residential units in Canton, Georgia, Meshes with the local district in the city center to offer the residents unique prospects and experiences. The municipality expressly celebrates the legacy of the canton with a decorated historical art wall in which the city's coal mining, textile mills and history is emphasized.
Meridian, which also developed and built the community, is a long -standing Canton business that has contributed to integrating the WESCOTT into the area. The design of the WESCOTT in connection with the integration into the local community brought the top position in the category “Active Adult Category of the Architecture of 2024 Senior Housing News” Architecture and Design Awards.
The concept
Project planners with foley design tried to create an “inviting and sophisticated” atmosphere by using a variety of textures, finishing and colors in their design.
The municipality is located in a commercial corridor with a “limited selection of design influence on a residential building”. However, many brick cladding and contemporary and transitional details were used in the surrounding buildings, according to the project planners.
Foley design and team were also inspired by other high-end living communities such as the Alpharetta village park in Alpharetta, Georgia. Elle von Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia; And La Grange Luxury Apartments in La Grange, Illinois.
For the interior, the goal was to create a “similar historical feeling of city” with colors, surfaces and materials in the surrounding community, including dark colors and stone.
This stretched to interior designers. For example, photos that are contained in the community's design documents show the teal chair through a fireplace, orange accent walls and spacious leather life.
The designers also used metal in lighting and furniture. The municipal rooms include a professional kitchenette in the hospitality industry with a stainless steel worktop and an asymmetrical bookshelf, tiled frameless showers, private terraces and decorative wall panels in every unit.
The main area of the community was designed in such a way that they are inviting. In order to achieve this, the designers focused on creating a spacious lounge area with a hotel-like reception, porcelain tile floor that resembles Terrazzo, two stories about atrium room with an acoustic lever system and a mixture of contemporary and historical photography. In addition, the residents can use the adjacent PET -SPA and the 24 -o'clock post.
The designers also tried to get active residents who still take part in a variety of activities and hobbies. Under the rooms of the community there is a Sky Lounge with a terrace on the roof with a view of the pool and the courtyard next to a fully equipped kitchen with a beer cock system and dining tables that are intended for the building in the community. The lounge is brought together with a view of the Blue Ridge Landscape and the historic cantonal water tower and the bold colors and stylish patterns and silhouettes.
The project team designed the four flour of the community with different colors to enliven the design and help the residents find their way. Each device also has accent colors and decorative lights. The municipality's corridors carry different art topics, and the project team also used the same carpet tiles on all floors, each have different accent colors in order to convey a tailor -made feeling in the entire building.
The construction
The WESCOTT was officially completed on January 1, 2023 and consists of 167,863 quadrat feet that span four floors.

The completion
The project planners are now open and surgical and believe that the WESCOTT is “proof of innovative architectural design and seamlessly integrates luxury, convenience and natural beauty.”
“Every detail is carefully manufactured to improve daily life,” they stated in their award documents.
The residents of the community can mix in rooms such as card rooms, rooms for book clubs, a Cabana with a pool in resort style and a lounge with a number of seating and decorating. The final design also includes a pet spa on the first floor for furry companions of the residents.
The judges of the Senior Housing News Design Award were particularly impressed, as the project planners distributed amenities throughout the community. Judges and Associate Director of Perkins Eastman Greg Gautroux found that the building and the Sky Lounge “use incredible views and outdoor areas”.
Judge and Senior Project Design and implementation manager from Sitelogiq Ric d'Amico found that he was particularly impressed by how the community differs from typical age -limited apartments with contemporary design. He added that the project team “lives young”.
