Drive train
At the core of the next generation CAN-AM defender is a brand new HD11 999CC-Inline-Dreizylinder-Rotax-Rotax-Ace engine with 95 hp and 70 LB-FT torque. The HD11 engine is continuously combined with a brand new variable transmission (CVT) and a PDRIVE primary coupling, which are designed with accuracy to put electricity on the floor and improve reliability at low speed and at the same time improve reliability. With three new selectable drive modes – normal, work and sport – the engine optimizes the performance for the toughest tasks, from heavy loads to some of the most demanding terrain.
A new inlet system promotes the air flow to strengthen the engine output, while an updated cooling system manages the engine temperature and increases the power of the HLK (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). The 2026 Defender XT packages are equipped with a new quick 4-locomotive difference differential, while the limited, Lone Stern and X MR packages carry the automatic, electronically controlled smart locomotive front differential to maximize the traction under most conditions.
The new defender continues to run the way with the first-class payload, the towing and load capacity and is now equipped with a new, larger 11.9-gallon fuel tank, which enables longer days in the job or trail.
Suspension and chassis
A first -class drive train requires a suspension package and chassis that meets the task. The 2026 defender has a new suspension geometry with a 65-inch broad design and 50% larger sheet-double A arm. The lock and steering components are more robust and are put together with double-tied sockets, an industry first to reduce maintenance and a quieter journey. The chassis was also tightened for the most demanding work and game scenarios, including improved ROPs. These changes not only increase toughness, but also provide sharper, more stable handling and advanced suspension performance, even if the vehicle is downloaded with tools and equipment. The defender has 12 inch front and rear suspension with 15 inch ground clearance that are best in class. The rotary radius has also been reduced and relieves tight maneuvers than ever.
Finally, the new, larger 262 mm front brake rotors are packed by 32 mm-hydraulic twin-piston brake calipers and new brake pads, which ensures a stop force even with heavy loads.
Processability and driver experience
The 2026 defender works harder and smarter than ever and offers comfort when the drivers want to, and the ability of the next stage if they need it. The ergonomics begins with the largest taxi in its class and 8% more legroom than the closest competition. In addition, the adjustable fast-steering wheel wheel enables comfortable entry and exit, while the back run and the seat foam have been revised for greater comfort and support.
The new packages of Defender Limited and Lone Star are equipped with an updated HLK system, which improves the cooling and heating capacity. A simple three-node system offers a convenient adjustment of the climate control. CAB models also benefit from noise, vibration and hardening for better communication with the passengers thanks to a new roof information, the back wall insulation and the floor mats.
The new 10.25 '' 'touchscreen display is being developed to bring the driving experience to the next stage, and pack a series of useful functions, including a safety camera and built-in GPS, to follow every trip and find friends with or without telephone or network connection. With this infotainment system, drivers can also control music seamlessly, monitor driving statistics, manage accessories and advanced off-road navigation functions via the BRP Go! App. With integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, it supports optimal software updates so that the owners can easily access the latest functions as soon as they are available. The touchscreen display of 10.25 '' is standard for all limited and Lone Star models and is available as an option for the XT and XT.
With over 200 accessories to choose from, drivers can adapt their defender so that they best meet their riding style and work requirements. From comfortable Linq freight boxes to the new integrated plow assembly and intuitive smart accessories, this work horse is an empty canvas that is ready for personalization. When it comes to equipping the 2026 defender with electronic accessories or electricity tools and devices, the new charging system produces 1700 watts and doubles the output of the previous generation.
In order to improve the driver's line of sight in poor lighting conditions, the 2026 defender has new LED headlights that create 45% more output than the previous version. In addition, new LED -Rücklichter Backup lights include switching on in reverse gear.
The new defender was developed with the driver and offers comfortable access to service points and has some of the longest service intervals and the lowest maintenance costs in the industry. This means less downtime for repairs and more time on the trail or to difficult jobs.
Vehicle line -up
The 2026 Defender HD11 has six different model configurations: Defender XT, the defender XT CAB, Defender X MR, Defender Limined, Defender Lone Star and Defender Lone Star Cab. These configurations are offered in standard (3 seats) with the exception of the Lone Star and the maximum (six seats) variations for each of them. Defender HD7, HD9 and HD10 models also return for 2026.
