This week, the Centrat city council will hold a second public hearing for several projects that have been identified for a potential application for grant financing.
The public hearing will take place on Tuesday at 6.45 p.m. in the Century town hall.
The city plans to apply for a CDBG (Small Cities Community Development Block Grant) from Florida Commerce and to focus on three inquiries:
- Draft for a possible reconstruction of three streets
- Construction of the Carver Community Center in the Jefferson Avenue
- A small home repair program
The proportion of streets of the application would later be expected for the Barnwell Lane, the Cedar Street and for both the East and West Cottage Street.
The Minor Home Repair Program would provide repairs for homes to fix problems with the enforcement of structural code, and access to problems such as ramps that would make it possible for a low or moderate income to remain in their houses for a longer period of time. The city will later determine whether roof facilities or upgrades could be included.
If he were forgiven, Grant Funds would build a new Carver Community Center (picture) in the Jefferson Avenue. The city previously received a state scholarship of 3.255 million US dollars for a community center in Jefferson Avenue, but most funds were withdrawn from the state. The city was able to use $ 514,650 to pay the expenses for the engineering, architecture and scholarship management costs that the city draws without a building, but a full row of shovel.
The potential dollar numbers for the grants are not yet known.
Three members of the public and a member of the council member took part in the first public hearing and stated contributions to the potential projects.
