Corona, CA, turned to AI to compare the approval process. A similar technology can help to rationalize the processes of the state and the district in Maryland.
In response to the ambitious mandate of California to build 2.5 million new housing units by 2030, the city of Corona assumed artificial intelligence (AI) in order to rationalize its process for approval of apartments. Corona officers have implemented new tools for automation and acceleration of planning tests in the realization that lengthy approval processes can deter the development and scare the costs. This technological integration aims to alleviate the administrative pollution for urban employees, to accelerate project permits and ultimately to promote living development in order to achieve the goals of the state.
The districts of Maryland, who want to accelerate the development of housing, could consider taking a page from the city of Corona's Playbook by examining how AI can modernize its permissible processes. Instead of revising everything at once, the counties could start -perhaps with a pilot project, in which AI is used to automate routine code checks or to mark incomplete submissions. This type of intelligent automation can significantly reduce delays that enable employees to release and develop developers for more complex checks to promote projects faster. When national housing issues last, the counties have to use more innovative strategies in order to react effectively and to adapt.
