A restaurant chain that is known for your antique-looking interior will be through a modern revision-and many of your customers do not welcome the change.
Cracker Barrel announced that it can update the interior of his business and to steer the versatile, worn southern look in favor of a modern aesthetics of the farmhouse.
“Come in!” Brent, a district manager of Cracker Barrel, in an Instagram video that shows a renovated location in Mount Julia, Tennessee.
It shows the spectators in the room with new lighting, tables, seats and even sound buffering in the ceilings.
The grille of the old design that used to separate tables and sections was replaced by a more open bookcase, and the color color of the business is now easier gray.
Brent notices how the guests were “amazed, how bright and how open the room is.
“We may have refreshed some things and updated a little, but don't worry, we're still a cracker barrel,” he says at the end of the video.
Immediately in the comments, people had mixed reviews for the revision.
“Brent, no,” wrote one person.
“I like the old eclectic look and the country of the country. Don't change it,” commented another.
While some people said they liked the updated look, most of the commentators commented.
“Please don't paint everything gray!” wrote a customer.
“I love the green walls and [all] Ancient and Old Americana Decor. They say they try to address younger customers. Well, my grandchildren and their friends (8 to 17 years 17) love it with us to the original cracker barrels. “
According to a report in May at Wall Street Journal, Cracker Barrel has slowly revised business since August 2024.
The company announced in March that it ended the conversion of 25 to 30 of around 660 restaurants and refreshed another 25 to 30 locations by this summer.
Cracker Barrel rejected the request from Today.com after comment.
While Cracker Barrel has reported an increase in sales and guest traffic since the renovation plan was announced, the general online mood is that the redesign has no character.
“Don't tell me that Cracker Barrel is also modern,” wrote a Tikkeer in a video July 2024 in which the shop of the typical Tchotchkes was missing.
The TikToker expanded her feelings in the caption of the video: “Unsure about this Cracker -Fass conversion … The stand was comfortable and everything, but wasn't your butt in these old wooden chairs deaf in part of the knowledge of the experience?!
“I saw something on the Internet, guy said that he ate in a converted cracker barrel, and he hated it and I want to join hatred,” says Kevin Fredericks (also known as Kevonstage) in a video of August 6th. “This is a gentrified cracker barrel. You have carried out the whole character and I don't know the edges of the pancakes burned.”
On the other hand, a Cracker maintenance worker in a Reddit post about the renovation said that they welcomed the change, as this contributes to relieving the workload for employees.
“First of all, the grid that has been decreased is an enormous improvement because it collects countless dust,” wrote the worker. “Not bypassing this means less dirt structure and a cleaner atmosphere as a whole. The same applies to revision in the kitchen – new equipment and layouts make it easier for us to maintain higher standards for cleanliness and efficiency.”
The worker added that the lighter colors and the simpler decor of the conversion are “not only for the appearance”, but also help the employees to clean faster. “Try to clean brown from a brown wall!”
“This renovation is a new step forward towards a better experience for our guests,” she continued. “The business is easier to clean, which means that it is cleaner for you and I promise that it will feel much fresher when visiting!”
