Wausau, Wis. (Waow) – A weekend fire temporarily closed a popular Kegelgasse.
Day's Bowl-A-dome was not considered a total loss after the fire at the weekend, but the damage is considerable.
The bowling alley remains closed until the repairs are carried out, but with the weather below zero it becomes all the more difficult to open your doors again.
“It is a process not only to put the building together again, it is also a process to experience a loss like this,” said Jay Cricks, owner of Northstar Restoration and worked on Day's Bowl-A-Dome.
Northstar knows that customers are looking forward to the reopening, but they also want to make sure that they do the best job from top to bottom.
“What we have is a lot of smoke damage in the facility, so it won't be a lot of structural damage at this point, and a lot of sleeves will roll, get in there and clean the furnishings from above to the bottom,” said Cricks.
There is no date when Days will open its doors back to the public, but the work has already started to raise the alleys again.
“We will help with all content, but we also help to repair the area of the furnishings that the fire had,” said Cricks. “There will be some repairs and such things. Basically everything from repairs to the bowling shoes.”
This is a season in which Northstar's phone rings consistently.
These cold temperatures have house and business owners who turn on the heat that can play a factor or even freezer.
“When your pipes freeze and water comes in, you know where your water shut -off valves are in your basement. Reduces the amount of damage,” said Cricks.
Day's Bowl-A-dome remains closed until February 22, including events and leagues.
You can find updates for reopening on the Day Facebook page.
