The show feels like a whole new ball game for Curtis, which took the time to heal from previous trauma and build up its own production company. The season with four episodes contains many well-known faces from the past seasons and the life of the home restoration expert, including its ex-boyfriend Ryan Sawtelle. After two bitter divorces, Curtis was initially enthusiastic about connecting to Sawtelle in 2018, which she said the following year she brought her “a calm that I never knew”.

When she started working at the house in Wyoming, she didn't know many people there who could help her, but Sawtelle lives in nearby Utah, so she called him.
