It is quite common for gardeners to appreciate sustainability, but not everyone is equally smart. A gardener shared his clever and aesthetically appealing method for reuse of waste to start their annual seedlings.
The environmentally conscious Redditor shared her creation with R/Anticonsum in a position entitled “Garbage Greenhouse”.

The article contains some pictures of egg boxes with a seedling planted in the ground in the cells. The boxes cover plastic plates for food shells.
“Happy start of the garden season!” Op wrote. “For years I have saved and reused these plastic packaging to produce tablets (sub -parts) and heat/moisture catchment areas (tops) that keep the egg cartoon seeds well and cozy.”
This simple trick is not only a great way to reuse objects that would otherwise appear at a landfill, but also create a rich planting environment for seedlings. Instead of planting several in one pot, there is a network of individual cells. Every seedling can easily be observed and can attract attention that it deserves.
This method can also save money for garden products and wasted seeds. Other gardeners have become similarly creative with toilet paper tubes, but the egg carton approach can be even more efficient.
Gardening itself offers many of these advantages. The cultivation of your own food can reduce the increasing food costs, reduce waste and pollution and improve both air and water quality. As this Reddit post shows, it is also a room to get creative and smart.
The commentators appreciated the environmentally friendly ingenuity that was exhibited in the operating post.
“I love that !!! The egg boxes !!! I will try my house,” said one.
“I love to discover new ideas for things that would otherwise be more waste,” said another. “Thank you for shared that.”
