GOV. Ivey Awards grants for energy improvements at local government, non -profit organizations across Alabama

Governor Kay Ivey has granted 16 grants of a total of 700,000 US dollars for lighting, heating and air conditioning as well as wastewater treatment systems in institutions that are operated by local governments, supply companies and non -profit organizations throughout the state.

The purpose of this state energy program subsidies is to reduce energy waste and reduce the supply costs by replacing outdated systems by more energy -efficient devices.

“These grants offer a practical and long -term solution for high energy costs for public and non -profit agencies that often work with limited means,” said Ivey. “These upgrades will be a blessing for budgets and in many cases the services that the organizations offer directly improve.”

The Department of Economic and Community Affairs by Alabama manages the grants from the financing made available by the US Ministry. ADECA manages a wide range of programs that support law enforcement authorities, sacrificial programs, economic development, water resource management, energy protection and relaxation.

“State Energy program grants offer great advantages to those who want to modernize and reduce costs,” said Kenneth Boswell, director of ADECA. “With governor Ivey, ADECA praises these organizations and municipal administrations for securing funds with which you can complete these upgrades and work more efficiently.”

The grant receivers are:

  • Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Montgomery) -47,539 US dollars for the installation of LED lighting (LED) in the Carolyn Blount Theater.
  • Calhoun County Commission -50,000 US dollars to improve the heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit (HLK) and to install LED lighting in the Calhoun County courthouse.
  • Christ United Church (mobile) -41,996 US dollars for the installation of LED lighting and HLK units in the church.
  • City of Alexander City -24.003 US dollars to improve the HLK system in Sugar Creek's wastewater treatment plant.
  • Water Works Board of the City of Calera – 31,660 US dollars to improve devices for wastewater treatment in Calera.
  • City of Foley Utilities Board – $ 27,150 for the installation of improved devices at the Sunset Loop sewage pump station.
  • City of Troy -11.003 US dollars for installing LED lighting in the wastewater treatment plant from Walnut Creek.
  • Health authority of the city of Piedmont -50,000 US dollars for the installation of HLK units in the Piedmont Health Care Center.
  • Hudsonalpha Institute for Biotechnology (Huntsville) -43,861 US dollars for the installation of LED lighting at the headquarters of this non -profit organization of Madison County, which focuses on progress in health, agriculture, education and trade.
  • Hudsonalpha Foundation (Huntsville) -49,083 US dollars for installing LED lighting in the foundation's offices, which supports the Hudsonalpha Institute for Biotechnology.
  • Pike County Board of Education -50,000 US dollars for installing LED lighting and HLK units in the Sprout Early Learning center in banks.
  • Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama Area Command (Foley) -50,000 US dollars for the installation of HLK units in the economy business of the Salvation Army.
  • Saraland City Schools -49,985 US dollars for installing the LED lighting at the Saraland High School in Mobile County.
  • South Central Alabama Development Commission (Montgomery) -50,000 US dollars to improve the HLK systems in Lewis F. Duckworth's administration building.
  • City shorter -39,981 US dollars for the installation of LED lighting and HLK units at the Deborah Cannon Wolfe School.
  • Workshops Empowerment Inc. (Jefferson County) -50,000 US dollars for installing LED lighting and HLK units in the Empowerment Facility workshops.
