Paducah phase 1 is almost complete in a long-awaited restoration project for a historical landmark of Paducah.
The project for the external facade of the Columbia Theater in the 504 Broadway Street aims to secure the structure that prevent further deterioration. After hundreds of donations, the first phase of the project canceled, the Columbia Art House Board said on Saturday.
The phase -1 project, which started in November last year, included the cleaning and repair of tiles on the front of the theater and the repointing connections between the sections.
The ultimate goal of the project is “the historical art house in Columbia as a business driver, an instrument in creative placemaking, a beacon for the importance of architectural history and a space for multicultural programming,” said the website of Columbia Art House.
The restoration project is financed by public and private donations – those who are interested in donations for the project Columbiaarthouse.org.
Phase 2 of the restoration project, which includes all interior work on floors, walls, seating areas and the ceiling, will probably cost 4 to 6 million US dollars.
