The board members of the Lawrence County Housing Authority will visit the residents of Skyview Towers after they have expressed concerns about living conditions in the high -rise building.
During a special meeting on Thursday, board member The Revid David Young said that he wanted to hear concerns from residents in connection with air conditioning, bed bugs and cockroaches. The board members should visit the building on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
“I don't think it is acceptable for people to live like this. We want them to know that we take their concerns seriously,” said Young.
Other board members present, Kevin Swogger and Ernestine Wise, said they would like to join Young. The board members Debby Hennon and Lee Ann Fulena were absent. This planned visit took place after the tenants had addressed concerns about a lack of air conditioning at the district officer last week and in the new Castle News.
The authority lawyer Lou Perrotta previously said the Chiller in Skyview was broken. One contractor found that a part was missing and was installed during the repairs.
The authority also received temporary, individual air conditioning systems and began to install them in strategic places in the building and in individual apartments for disabled and elderly.
Young said he would also like to plan visits to other locations of the housing authority to hear the concerns of other tenants.
“Everything we can to fix the problem,” said Young.
The director Holly Girwood said that they had strengthened the housing estate and visits to places such as SkyView Towers.
In other sessions of the session, the board of directors approved a bid of $ 176,580 by Groover Roofing & Siding Inc. for roof work in units in the Brinton Hill Apartments in the Hazen Street.
It was the lowest of four offers.
According to Girwood, the contractors ended the roof work to McGrath Manor and are currently working on roof examinations in the apartments of the Sciota Street.
The authority received four offers for a pension seller and will vote on a company in July.
The board agreed to terminate a temporary seasonal employee who was not identified after Girwood said that he had given up his work this week and said derogatory words to the authority.
The next meeting of the authority will take place on July 17th at 5 p.m. in the Neshannock Village Office in the Neshannock Avenue and via Zoom. Anyone who wants to comment is asked to send their intention to admin@lawrencountyha.com before 4 p.m. on this day. All comments are read loudly.
Board meetings are accessible to the public. To reach the office, call (724) 656-5100.
