IKEA, operated by Al-Futtaim, has officially opened its newest store at JIMI Mall in Al Ain, marking a major milestone in the brand's continued expansion in the UAE. The new location offers customers an unforgettable shopping experience and underlines IKEA's commitment to providing customers across the Emirates with functional, affordable and modern furnishing solutions.
The opening was inaugurated by Vinod Jayan, Managing Director of IKEA UAE, Qatar, Oman and Egypt, who commented on the milestone, saying: “Our move to JIMI Mall in Al Ain is a significant step in our mission to make quality and sustainable home furnishings more accessible to people across the UAE. We are committed to improving the shopping experience and look forward to better serving our customers and continuing to offer affordable solutions that enrich everyday life.”
The new store, the fourth of its kind in the UAE following successful smaller format openings in Fujairah, Al Wahda Mall and Dalma Mall in Abu Dhabi, offers a more compact and customer-focused shopping experience across 8,200 square metres. The store offers tailored offerings to suit the tastes and preferences of Al Ain residents, including interior designs inspired by local lifestyle and culture.
The thoughtful layout encompasses both the IKEA market hall and the showroom, offering a curated selection of 3,500 products for immediate purchase and a visually appealing environment with over 4,300 items on display – all designed to reflect real homes and everyday needs. In addition, the store offers over 600 items at reduced prices and more than 200 pieces of furniture to take away immediately.
Many of the items on display are made from sustainable materials and reflect IKEA's commitment to environmentally conscious living. The store has met the requirements of the LEED green building rating system and received Gold certification from the US Green Building Council, recognizing its sustainable interior design and construction, including reduced energy consumption, water savings and improved air quality. It is powered entirely by renewable energy from EWEC.
Jayan added: “Sustainability remains at the heart of everything we do, and this store reflects our commitment to minimizing our environmental footprint while providing exceptional value. With a spacious layout, an expanded product range and a focus on eco-friendly solutions, we aim to offer value for money, leading the way in creating a more responsible and affordable home furnishings industry that will benefit every household in the UAE.”
The new IKEA Al Ain store enables customers to make small, more sustainable everyday changes: create less waste, use less water and energy, reduce single-use items and love their products for longer.
Customers in Al Ain can also look forward to a visit to the IKEA Restaurant, Bistro and Swedish Food Market, which offers a menu that combines Swedish dishes, international flavors and sustainable options, including plant-based meals, ASC-certified salmon and UTZ-certified coffee. The restaurant and bistro together can accommodate over a hundred guests, with the bistro featuring a convenient self-service kiosk. Both the Bistro and Swedish Food Market have dedicated checkouts to ensure a seamless dining experience.
IKEA is proud to create a diverse and inclusive workplace and maintain a near-equal gender ratio among its employees. The store embodies IKEA's democratic design principles, ensuring that well-designed, functional and sustainable products are accessible to everyone.
The new store offers a range of services designed to enhance the IKEA experience, including interior design services, assembly, delivery, kitchen services, installation services, measurement services, gift cards as well as dedicated parking for the click and collect service.
IKEA is committed to enhancing the shopping experience at its new location to become an integral part of the Al Ain community and welcome residents with inspiration, value and practical solutions to improve their homes and everyday lives.
