Milwaukees District 5 to undergo street lighting

The improvements in street lighting are scheduled to begin on July 1st in Milwaukees District 5. Alderman Lamont Westmoreland announced the project, which, according to the city of Milwaukee, will concentrate on the modernization of the lighting infrastructure in the region.

As part of a 1.1 million dollar project, Street Lighting Circuits are improved with energy-efficient LED lights. Work begins with the installation of lines boring and tension box. Traffic and parking lot can be affected during this phase. Temporary “No -Parking” signs are published on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to enable space for building equipment, as reported by the city of Milwaukee.

As part of a city project, Kops Park and Golden Valley Street Lighting upgrades are planned to switch all street lamps to the management of 2026. A map of the affected areas is available on the city's website. “The upcoming improvements in street lighting are urgently required and will improve the quality of life for the affected area,” said Alderman Westmoreland. The project has not yet been completed in District 5, and the residents can report road losses via an online portal, as mentioned by the city of Milwaukee.
