HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) – The 7th Annual Tree Lighting at the Garden of Hope brought the Myrtle Beach community together for a festive celebration.
Myrtle Beach Neighborhood Services Director Mary “Cookie” Goings expressed gratitude for the opportunity to unite the community.
“We're just grateful for the opportunity to celebrate, to celebrate our children. And then bringing people together,” Goings said. “We love a very diverse audience, and that’s what neighborhood services is all about: bringing our communities together, our city, from different parts of the city, but bringing everyone together to celebrate and have fellowship.”
The event featured performances by Long Bay Theater, Myrtle Beach High Show Choir, Myrtle Beach Middle Dance Team and Praise Elite. Attendees enjoyed complimentary hot cocoa, cookies, popcorn, chili and hot dogs.
In the spirit of giving, non-perishable food donations were collected for Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach.
