Canada based lighting specialists Nanoleaf has introduced two new lighting products to add to its growing range, a brand new one Floor lampand an updated version of it 4D TV light bar.
Following in the footsteps of many other manufacturers' products, including Govee and Philips Hue, the new floor lamp essentially consists of a multi-colored LED strip surrounded by a tall, thin, upright metal housing and base. The strip itself is capable of displaying both standard 16 million colors (Has anyone actually counted…?) but is also capable of producing multiple colors in one strip, which is different from the company's basic Essentials light strip.
In addition to the various colors available, the floor lamp can also produce warm and cool white. However, it is not certain whether it is compatible with Apple's Adaptive Lighting feature. However, it uses Matter over WiFi, so unfortunately no thread. This isn't exactly a surprise considering Nanoleaf's reluctance to use Thread in its latest smart home releases.
The multicolor floor lamp, which also works with Nanoleaf's recently released Sense+ wireless controller, will be available sometime in the first quarter of 2025, priced at $99.99.
In addition to the bottom strip, Nanoleaf has announced an update to its 4D Screen Mirroring Lightstrip kit with a new V2 model. As with the original model, the complete set includes a light strip that can produce multiple colors along its length, as well as a camera that captures the colors on your screen in real time and transmits this information back to the strip via a separate box/power supply.
What has changed from the original model, which I still use by the way? (review HERE)? Well, perhaps the most important improvement comes to the strip itself, which Nanoleaf says is lighter and more flexible. This means that the corner brackets included with the original are no longer required. The camera mount features a new and improved mount/mount and a longer arm, allowing it to scan larger and wider screens than before. The TV strip can also sync with other Nanoleaf lights, although the company promised this with the original 4D strip, which still hasn't been fulfilled.
The original model was compatible with Apple Home (via WiFi). It is currently unclear whether the new model follows the same path or offers Matter. What is almost certain is that Thread is probably not being used.
The 4D V2 is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2025, with pricing to be announced at a later date.
