The Union County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to announce the continuation of its recycling events in 2025 in May. The residents are encouraged to secure themselves safely during the planned monthly events by selling personal documents, scrap metals and dangerous household items. This nationwide initiative promotes environmentally friendly practices by working with the residents to keep Union County clean, safe and sustainable.
“Union County recycling programs offer a simple and convenient way to prevent identity theft, to maintain valuable resources and to protect the environment,” said Lourdes M. Leon, Chair of the Union County. “I ask the residents to inspect their houses and vehicles on undesirable or potentially dangerous objects and to use these free recycling services.”
Union County offers free mobile paper -shredding events from March to October, so that residents can safely dispose of personal documents on site. The events can be reached from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or to truck. The residents will be invited to the following Shredding events in May:
- Friday, May 16: Parking at the hill pool, 1209 Central Avenue, Hillside
- Sunday, May 18: New Providence Community Pool Parkplatz, 1378 Springfield Avenue, New Providence
The Shredding events are only intended for personal and sensitive documents. The residents can recycle magazines, junk mail and other papers through their municipal recycling program. Please remove all bonds, large plastic or metal clips and other utensils before the event (booklings are allowed). Pre -chilled, moist or wet paper are not accepted.
Union County's scrap metal continues in May and offer the residents the opportunity to recycle various metal objects, including refrigerators (with remote doors) (with remote doors), to recycle, metal cabinets, devices, bicycles, aluminum scrap and even air conditioning systems. The next scrap metal event of the season will take place on Saturday, May 17th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in two practical locations:
- Cranford: Rescue service building, 151 Kenilworth Boulevard, Kenilworth
- Rahway: Rahway River Park (Follow Park Drive, Rahway in St. George's Avenue to get Hof opposite the swimming pool)
The next event “Danger Waste) from Union County will take place on Sunday, June 1st, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will take place in the Union County Votech in the Raritan Road Road 1776 in Scotch Plains. At these events, the residents can properly dispose of a large number of household chemicals for a proper recycling. Oil base, engine, propane tanks, pool chemicals, pesticides, fluorescent light bulbs, asbestos and more. it can be thrown in your household waste.
