Owasso Man Batting Cancer gets a new roof thanks to the neighbor, local business, gets a new roof

A 70-year-old Owasso man fights against level 4 neck and tongue cancer. After a local roofing and a caring neighbor, a roof with storm damage immersed themselves.

Danny Mashburn's house suffered roof damage during a tornado that swept through Owasso in April. Due to its ongoing health problems and financial restrictions, Mashburn could not carry out the necessary repairs.

“He is an older gentleman with cancer in the late stage-I heart only goes to him,” said Charles Wheeler, neighbor of Mashburn. “He never asks for anything, and that's the guy who deserves it.”

Wheeler went on social media to look for help and hoped that someone would offer a patch or repair. This article attracted Ryan Roofing's attention, a contractor based in Owasso.

“We wanted to get involved. We wanted to help as much as possible,” said Lynsey Martin from Ryan Roofing.

Mashburn's daughter, Misty Moore, said the family had difficulty finding a way to repair the roof when they got the unexpected messages.

“It is a big blessing for our family and especially for my father,” said Moore.

The roof crew did the job on one of the hottest days of the year. When the work was completed, Wheeler thought about what the Owasso community had achieved through a simple Facebook post.

“I am thrilled to know what this guy is going through. It's too much,” said Wheeler. “We take care of our neighbors – we should all. We don't live alone in this world, even though we think we do. We don't.”

Ryan Roofing also discovered problems with Mashburn's air conditioning and is now working to combine it with additional support.
