Earth Month Farmer's Market Pop-up

The weekly farmers' market includes an environmental shovel with Pinecrests sustainability programs. The residents can determine how the free composting program has already derived 90,000 pound food waste from landfills, which reduces both methane emissions and waste management costs. You can also get to know the new Everglades Earth Cycle project, in cooperation with the Miccosukee tribe, which will help to restore important soils and protect our waterways.
Beautiful flowers from the Flower Flower Islands project will be available for sale. These flowers serve double pollutants from local waterways before they are harvested for their home. Every purchase helps to expand this innovative water quality initiative and at the same time beautify your space.
Composting 101
Saturday, April 19 | 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Pinecrest Gardens
Dr. Lanette Sobel from Fertile Earth Worm Farm leads this free practical workshop perfect for beginners and experienced componers. The participants learn to create effective home composting systems, to remedy predicting challenges and use ready -made composts to enrich gardens. This reduces the need for purchased fertilizers and the support of houses healthier systems.
Space is limited; Early registration recommended. The workshop of last year quickly reached the capacity.
Polish Pinecrest Village-Wide Cleaning
Saturday, April 19 | 8:00 a.m. – noon
The residents can grab special orange garbage bags into the clean areas around the village. After you are filled, just put bags back to Evelyn Greer Park to get proper disposal. These joint efforts prevents rubbish from penetrating waterways and at the same time maintaining the property values by beautifying the neighborhood.
Orangen bags available in the community center a week before or in the morning of cleaning. The participants should wear water, sunscreen and comfortable clothes with shoes with their foot closed.

Free electronics recycling drive
Saturday, April 20 | 8:00 a.m. – noon | Evelyn Greer Park
This comfortable Drive-Thru-Recycling event makes the discovery simple and environmentally friendly. The employees unload recyclable electronics, household chemicals and unwanted clothing directly from vehicles.
This free service saves the residents and keeps dangerous materials from landfill sponsorship.
