Prime Minister Andrew Holness is urging Jamaicans to adopt a positive attitude as they reflect on 2024 and prepare for the New Year.

In his Christmas message, the Prime Minister wanted to remind citizens that despite their personal difficulties, they were spared from celebrating another Christmas with family and friends.

Dr. Holness also promotes safe driving as people travel to visit loved ones and take part in Christmas festivities, noting that “there is an increase in road fatalities every Christmas.”

“Take it easy in traffic,” he demanded.

Referring to the poor condition of most roads across the island due to heavy rains in recent months, he reiterated that he had instructed the National Works Agency to “repair as many roads as possible during the Christmas period in order to ensuring traffic is not unduly delayed” on our major road network for the New Year.

He also sought to ensure that those whose homes needed roof repairs due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl last July could continue to receive support from the government.

“Although we won’t be able to help every private home, we will explore ways to quickly help the households most in need of roof repairs,” he promised.
